Our auto-installer scripts have been updated to Joomla! 1.5.9.  This means any new Joomla! hosting accounts will have version 1.5.9 automatically installed, including pre-configured Search Engine Friendly URLs.

This is an important security release that fixes a number of  bugs and a high level security issue that existed in previous versions.  All users on versions below 1.5.9 are urged to upgrade now.  Full details here:

Joomla 1.5.9 Security Release Now Available

Search Engine Friendly URLs are an incredibly important feature for any website.  Even though enabling this in Joomla 1.5 is a relatively straight forward task many users either don’t understand the significance of them or do not have the confidence to change their configuration file and set up the necessary mod_rewrite rules.

To help our customers build better websites and to relieve them of some unecessary hassle we have made an important improvement to our Joomla installation service.

As of version 1.5.5 all Joomla Hosting orders will be pre-configured with search engine friendly URLs enabled. They will work out-of-the-box without the need for any further configuration. Simple!

So instead of your URLs looking like this:

/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=19&Itemid=27

they will look like this:

/joomla-overview/what-is-new-in-1-5

They are easier to read and will give you a search engine ranking boost.  Nice!

Joomla! have brought out yet another release hot on the heels of 1.5.4.  Joomla 1.5.5 (named ‘Mamni’) fixes a duplicate title error present in 1.5.4 and addresses a number of bugs including one affecting search engine friendly URLs.

All Joomla 1.5 users should upgrade to 1.5.5 as soon as possible.  Any new Joomla hosting orders will now get version 1.5.5 installed.

From today all new Joomla 1.5 hosting orders will have the latest version (1.5.4) pre-installed. This is a ‘maintenance release’ which includes a number of moderate level bug and security fixes.

All Joomla 1.5 users are urged to upgrade to 1.5.4 as soon as possible.  Please refer to the Joomla website for full Joomla 1.5.4 Upgrade Instructions.

Another minor release of Joomla came out last week. Our auto-installers have been updated and any new Joomla 1.5 hosting orders will have version 1.5.3. from now on.

This maintenance release of Joomla 1.5 includes a number of important bug fixes.

Existing 1.5 users should patch their installations to bring them up to date. Full instructions are available on joomla.org.

All new Joomla 1.5 hosting orders will now be version 1.5.2.

Joomla! have recently released an important security update to the 1.0.x branch of the Joomla! Content Management System. The update fixes a serious security vulnerability present in previous versions and all Joomla! users are urged to upgrade immediately, particularly if your site was developed with versions up to 1.0.12.

The imminent release of Joomla 1.5 has the community rather excited (read ‘frothing at the mouth’). It constitutes the first major release since Joomla burst onto the scene back in 2005. There are some really impressive new features and usability enhancements that make it more of a viable prospect for serious business websites. Release candidate 3 has been available for some time now and Joomla users all over the world have been putting it through it’s paces.
