Sorry guys, I love Joomla 1.5. RC usually have bugs, it is intended to test its features and build new extensions and test them too. So not for produckion sites. Besides that bugs are always found - windows update, IE securoty fixes, Mac fixes, even Iphone fixes are comming out all the time. And of course you can install extensions, more and better ones as time passes.

I used to run my site on e107 CMS. It was fast and simple. Then I got into Joomla and Drupal.

My first Joomla site 1.0.x loaded faster than my 1.5 site. I have read many threads about Joomla1.5 loading slow. The consensus is: live with it. Well, I can't. My site takes so long to load on the first try that sometimes it times out. That looks great when you're trying to show your site to clients! NOT!

Over the last few months, I started to look more favorably at Drupal. I upgraded a Drupal 4.x to 5.7 and it went off smoothly. Much more smoothly than Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 (ugh!) The jury is still out on Drupal 6, though. But it can't be any worse than Joomla 1.5.

I have been teaching my techs to use Joomla 1.0 if necessary just because it is faster and apparently more stable than 1.5. But today, I'm changing course and going Drupal again. Yee ha. Maybe back to e107?? LOL!

As yet we have not had any need to migrate any sites to 1.5, but I guess we will have to pretty soon. I don't know how much longer the development team plan to continue supporting the 1.0.x branch.

Of course the fresh install is stable. But how goes the migration?
Joomla Forum is full of postings by people stating 404 errors after migrating their websites to 1.5. But no meangful solutions available yet.

I am in a fix whether to leave old site on 1.0.x and start new one with J1.5. Surely this means giving up all the old contents, not ideal at all

We are in the final stages of developing our own auto-installer scripts for 1.5 and so far our tests suggest that fresh installs are very stable. We haven't done any test migrations from 1.0.x installations yet so I would be very interested to hear what experiences people are having.

I am hitting very fundamental bugs with with stable 1.5.1 version

Perhaps testing was done well for new installation of Joomla 1.5.x

However I believe testing was not done on migrated websites.
Even simple things like Old Menu structures os 1.0.x give 404 error

I am giving up on my Joomla 1.5.1 migration, after having wasted almost entire weekend

On one hand, I agree.

On the other, we get asked quite regularly by customers if they should install 1.5. Now we just point them at this article :-)

Of course it has bugs. If it did not, it would be stable. Come on now, you are wasting bandwidth.
