When I work on a project the following links really help me build better web sites quicker. They’re listed here primarily so I have a handy place to refer friends and colleagues to but I hope they come in handy for others.

Firebug - This Firefox plugin is beyond fantastic. If you make web sites this tool will help you debug HTML and CSS like no other.

Web Developer Toolbar - Another essential plugin for Firefox.

Fire FTP - Quick and simple FTP client, right there in your favourite browser.

Firefox - What do you mean you don’t use Firefox? Get it now.

Lorem Ipsum Generator - Handy tool to give you random text to use in your design mock ups.

Online Color Schemer - Quick and simple colour scheme generator.

XML sitemap generator - Create an XML sitemap easily.

Dreamstime Stock Artwork - Forget istock! Dreamstime has much better images and is just as cheap.

Layout Gala - A very useful collection of pre-built CSS page layouts.

Google Analyitcs - Probably the best web stats package in the world. Certainly the easiest to use.

Google Webmaster Tools - This suite of webmaster tools provides you with a free and easy way to make your site more Google-friendly.

SEO Checklist - 24 On-site SEO Checkups For Clueless Developers / Marketers. Excellent.

Raven SEO Tools - The essential SEO Tool Set for Search Engine Optimization.

Authority Domains - Quality link building services.

Boag World - An excellent web design blog, full of great ideas and advice.

Del.icio.us - If you work on more than one computer then this tool lets you access your bookmarks wherever you go.

Web Developers Handbook - For anything else I resort to this mammoth list of tools and resources.
